Labor Support Course – October 25-27, 2012
Basic Doula training Course (includes DONA 8-hour childbirth class)
Join us Thursday, Friday and Saturday for a Training Session. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m at the Character Inn Conference Center, located in Downtown Oklahoma City, 520 West Main, Oklahoma City, 73102.
For the 16 hour DONA-Approved Birth Doula Training, we will be covering the following objectives:
- Introduction and interpretation of Penny Simkin’s research on the long-term significance of birth and Drs. Kennell and Klaus’ research on the effects of labor support and its relation to contemporary maternity care
- A description of the emotional needs of the laboring woman and hands-on techniques to meet those needs to enhance the birth experience
- Discussion of the unique needs of women during cesarean sections, VBAC or birth with abuse survivors
- Demonstration and hands-on applications of effective comfort measures and labor and birth positions
- Role-model and group role-play of workshop objectives
- Prenatal visits and postpartum concerns-including integration of the birth memory
- Ways to organize, promote and market a doula program or service
- Ideas to work with difficult variations of labor
- Breastfeeding and normal newborn appearances
- This training is approved for the workshop requirement of the DONA International Birth Doula certification process.

- Pregnancy, childbirth and the Newborn by Simkin, Whalley & Kippler
3- Day Training Course:
Early Registration 325.00 (April 23rd- June 18, 2012)
Regular Registration 400.00 (June 19th – Sept. 30, 2012)
Late Registration : 475.00 ( October 1- October 24, 2012)

Refund Policy:
Birth and PostPartum Courses: If you need to cancel your registration more than 21 days prior to the training course, You will receive a refund from the registration fee minus $30.00 for administrative fees. Membership fees are non-refundable. (The Out-Of-State Membership, which is for out-of-state attendees only- $25.00 or the Full Membership fee $55.00) There will be no refunds after the 20th day before the start of the training course unless there is a waiting list and your space is filled. You may send a qualified substitute in your place or apply your tuition to other training courses within the one calendar year. Please contact Danielle Lugrand at training@dacoinc.org for canceling registrations. If you pay your tuition and do not contact us ahead of time and do not show up to attend the course, your entire registration fee will be forfeited.
Returned check policy: Each check will incur a $35.00 fee.
This course is approved by DONA International and The Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools approved the Doula Association of Central Oklahoma (DACO Inc) as a professional organization, on April 2006, based upon DACO”s status as an IRS 501 c (6) organization. Therefore pursuant to OAC 565:10-1-2©(4)DACO may continue to provide course for the instructions of their members.
